Protein Ice Cream Bowls (Print Version)

Creamy bowls made from banana, protein shake, and yogurt, topped with granola and berries, perfect for a healthy treat.

# What You'll Need:

→ Base

01 - 1 ripe banana, sliced and frozen
02 - 1 cup vanilla or chocolate protein shake (dairy or plant-based)
03 - 1/2 cup Greek yogurt or dairy-free yogurt
04 - 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)

→ Toppings (optional)

05 - 2 tablespoons granola
06 - 1 tablespoon chia seeds
07 - 1/4 cup fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
08 - 1 tablespoon nut butter (peanut, almond, or sunflower seed)

# How to Make It:

01 - In a high-speed blender, place the frozen banana, protein shake, Greek yogurt, and honey or maple syrup if using.
02 - Blend the mixture until smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed. If too thick, add a splash more protein shake.
03 - Pour the blended mixture evenly into two bowls.
04 - Sprinkle granola, chia seeds, fresh berries, and nut butter over the bowls as desired.
05 - For a firmer consistency, place bowls in the freezer for 30 to 60 minutes before serving. Otherwise, serve immediately as soft-serve.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • You get all the creamy satisfaction of real ice cream without the sugar crash or post-dessert regret
  • The texture tricks your brain into thinking you are eating something indulgent when it is actually fueling your muscles
02 -
  • Over-blending can make the mixture too warm and thin, so stop as soon as it reaches creamy consistency
  • Frozen banana oxidizes and turns brown if frozen too long, so use it within a week for the best color and flavor
03 -
  • Peel and slice your bananas before freezing so you do not end up with frozen rock-hard bananas that are impossible to peel
  • Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes after blending if it is too thick to scoop smoothly
